Zanadu Birmans

Zanadu Cattery was born in 1969 in Toronto, Ontario, with Siamese cats. The original spelling was Xanadu, from the poem. "In Xanadu, did KublaKhan, a stately pleasure dome decree" It was originally registered with the Canadian Cat Association (CCA).   When I decided to widen my horizons and also show in Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) the name was already taken and so the "X" was replaced with a "Z" with CFA.

In the spring of 2000 we happily brought home our first Birman. And as you know, one good thing leads to another.

We are a small cattery  now located in Eastern Ontario, with the girls having the run of the house, and kittens raised underfoot. The boys  have a room of their own.

Our Birmans are shown  almost exclusively in CFA, but I have again made acquaintance with CCA since our move back to Ontario.

In our breeding program, first and foremost, we are concerned with the health and temperament of our cats. We strive to produce quality Birmans displaying the beautiful attributes as described in the standard, while also remembering that all of our kittens are pets first, and show cats second.
